Dear Friends of SLEAT,

It seems the Georgia Secretary of State’s office has finally caught up with its paper work and the Sidney Lanier Environmental Advocacy Team, Inc. is a registered non-profit, in good standing, since April 1, 2015.
Our control # 15048421

Which is not to say that the certificate of incorporation has actually been received. It hasn’t, but should arrive in the mail any day.

Meanwhile, the video covering the second meeting of the St. Simons Incorporators has been viewed 117 times in two days — not a bad record for one of my videos. The video of the first meeting at Epworth has had 128 views in six months. So, interest seems to be growing.

The Mainland Planning Commission is meeting on Tuesday evening, June 2nd at 6:00 PM. However, the agenda indicates consideration of a few mundane rezonings or site plan approvals. No discussion of issues or ordinance revisions is planned at this time.

I am planning to get on the County Commission agenda for June 4th in order to request that the commission rezone two parcels on St. Simons to more appropriate categories and set a good example for other property owners “enjoying” categories that are not consistent with our objectives. FYI the parcels are
04-06511, located to the east of the Dunbar Creek Sewage Plant (zoned RR)
04-08264, 30+ acres of East Beach dunes (zoned R6 and R9)

Also, I’ll be presenting them with the information about inaccurate or questionable public records I previously provided to the Board of Assessors and the JWSC.

Respectfull submitted,

Monica Smith, Registered Agent S.L.E.A.T. Inc.
