5/16/15 report
> Sidney Lanier Environmental Advocacy Team
No-one, other than yours truly, attended our scheduled May 16th meeting, which was intentionally not cancelled, even after one of the prime movers for the establishment of a new organization called it quits, because the notice seemed too short. If some people wanted to follow the invitation sent out via the new Google+ group and planned to attend, I did not want them to be disappointed. In the event, several members sent their excuses and will be glad to learn they didn’t miss anything.
The status of the application to the Secretary of State for the registration of the SLEAT articles of incorporation remains unchanged. As of the last bank statement, the check for the application fee had not been tendered. So, we just wait. At this point, I am undecided whether to follow up in ninety days with the annual registration payment. It does seem clear that there is no need for bank accounts or accounting services, since there is no significant income to track or disburse.
As far as I know, the steering committee took no action, since their designation at the last meeting and no alternative meeting place was arranged. It is my sense that perhaps the enthusiasm for a new organization was akin to spring fever which, with the arrival of summer-like heat, has waned. Since the new web page under the auspices of Google+ (https://plus.google.com/communities/105082746814896717507) seems fairly unobtrusive and functional, I shall continue to explore how best to utilize it. I have created a link to my Youtube channel (https://www.youtube.com/user/cyprespond) so I can track how the two systems interact.
You can, of course, also find information on the S.L.E.A.T. page on Hannah Blog.
Respectfully submitted,
Hannah
