The end of an era.

I think what has turned the tide is the commercial class whose traditional reliance on legislated monopolies has turned into a trap. Military force to secure markets has now proven three times incapable of delivering.

Indeed, it is beginning to look like the U.S. was suckered into Afghanistan and Iraq. The attack on the World Trade Center was an announcement that finance was not going to rule the world, especially if it was going to persist in being an immoral force.

Even more ironic is that the power of the Almighty dollar has been vitiated by accumulating vast amounts and thereby demonstrating its worthlessness.
