For historical purposes, this is how the Senate elections were covered while I soundly slept.
Almost all news reports ignored the other runoff election for Public Service Commissioner. Daniel Blackman, the Democrat, only got 49% of the vote and the incumbent was retained. Most voters probably do not know what the PSC does; that in exchange for setting utility rates, it grants providers a monopoly. Which is, of coures, consistent with most governmental agencies serving commercial interests.
How did that happen?
Well, contrary to chamber of commerce propaganda, governmental entities respond to demand. What the people do not demand, they do not get.
