Dress codes?

A child was ejected from an eatery because he was wearing “athletic” shorts.

So, what do you think “exclusive” means? It means somebody is going to be shut out in the expectation that it will make the included feel good AND pay extra for the “privilege” of being there.
Segregation in a commercial environment is not about the excluded, but about increasing revenue at someone else’s expense. “What you do to the least of these, you do to me,” is literally correct, but if we do not expect it and pay attention, we may not notice.
Currency, because it is anonymous, provides a convenient cover for what is insulting behavior. Just imagine the gall of a purveyor of food stuffs presuming to judge the apparel of paying customers!
(We might recall that the man in the Bible, whose friends did not show up for his daughter’s wedding, recruited some guests on the street and offered them appropriate attire and then excluded the one who refused to accommodate himself. “Many are called but few are chosen” was likely a supercilious addition by the scribe. LOL)
Whatever happened to “the customer is always right?” It’s no wonder the economy is in the dumps.
How much social insult is actually driven by commercial greed?
As long as we focus on the victims of the insult that question does not get asked.
