Morning thought

It is shameful that candidates for public office are expected to promote themselves and wage a campaign against the electorate and other applicants.
Who invented and sustains this notion? The fourth estate. Instead of providing the services for which its special status accorded, the press passes judgement on the basis of who funnels more money into its coffers. “Viable” candidates are those with lots of money to waste on advertising.
Last I looked, 590 people had filed notices of intent and follow-up documents with the FEC. Why isn’t the NY Times running stories about any of the group, all of whom are likely more qualified than the current nincompoop in the Oval Office.
