Gulf Fritillaries

Gulf fritillary

Gulf fritillaries are perennial visitors to the golden isles. In the fall, they find masses of Bidens pinose, little daisy-like flowers, on which to feed. I suppose they are called fritillaries because of their habit of flitting from blossom to blossom and rarely holding still.

That behavior makes them fitting representatives of the people who live here, frivolous folk who cannot seem to concentrate on anything but bouncing from social to social. It is enough to drive a practical person crazy. Nothing gets accomplished.

So, I have about had it. Five years and I have achieved nothing.
