This is personal. As a child, whose life was determined by an irresponsible migrant, I resent the additional intentional disruption being visited on the foreign born in violation of the Constitution. That, from the very beginning, the Constitution considered it proper to declare some humans to be properly owned by others does not make this behavior just.
Kidnapping and detention are un-Constitutional and criminal acts, as is demanding a ransom. Moreover, making a false accusation is also a crime. Migration is a natural right, so our local agents of law enforcement are correct in refusing to intercept migrants.
That Congress is prepared to legalize the slave trade is a shame. There realy is o difference between importing and exporting human beings against their will. Exploiting them for monetary gain (human husbandry) is a lesser offense which, because money is involved, is actually easier to prove.
