Invisible things.

Filed under: another perspective — hannah @ 9:48 am

Words exist, whether or not they are written down.

Ideas exist, whether or not they are expressed.

Marriages exist, whether or not they are certified.

The laws of physics exist, whether or not they have been deciphered.

Obligations exist, whether or not they are carried out.

Values exist, whether or not they are expressed in dollars.

Distance exists, whether or not it is measured.

Is the failure to recognize these realities a consequence of confusing form with function? Why do we not recognize symbols for what they are? Why, on the other hand, do some people seem content to lead an entirely symbolic existence where “all it takes is the idea”?
